Andrew Brands is the Fall 2020-21 Managing Director for Bronco Asset Management, Cal Poly Pomona’s premiere Finance program. Andrew finds hard work, determination, teamwork, and honesty to be the most valuable qualities for success in running the firm. Since the Fall 2021 CFAOC first place win, Andrew has led the firm to a substantial 10%YTD return in the first half of 2021, fulfilling the firm’s client goals and closely vying with competing universities.

 

At Cal Poly Pomona, Andrew is a student in the Kellogg’s Honors College, and has participated in notable Finance competitions including the Student Managed Investment Fund Portfolio Pitch Competition and the CFA Institute Research Challenge, where Cal Poly placed first and second place, respectively. Brands aspires to become a CFA Charterholder after obtaining his undergraduate Finance degree from Cal Poly. With a background in Commercial Real Estate and Operational Finance, Andrew has great interpersonal, project valuation, and strategic management skills. Also, with a passion for spreading financial literacy, Andrew would like to go into teaching after a successful career in Finance. His main goal for his last year on campus is to expand the program’s presence on campus, fast track undergraduates to gain professional development and work-experience, and ultimately, aid the spread of financial literacy

 

.When not sitting at his desk, Brands enjoys mountain biking, surfing, golf, and working on his project car.
